“Charging the City” is an interactive tool for designers of public charging infrastructure for e-cars. Intermodal, flexible and green transport systems have a great potential for our cities – discover them right here!
This App is designed for all stakeholders involved in the planning and installation of charging infrastructure like municipalities, car sharing providers or utility companies. It provides an illustrative and interactive presentation of the following contents:
• The app explores the technical, social and urban context of current mobility trends and electric mobility.
• It describes the role of EVs in the intermodal transport of the future as well as its environmental, social and design potentials in our cities.
• Taking Berlin as an example, the app shows methods for deploying public charging infrastructure in cities, identifying three urban typologies with the highest potential for charging infrastructure.
• The implementation of charging infrastructure is tested in three case studies considering aspects of transport planning, urban design, energy planning and economics.
• Finally the app gives a set of sharp recommendations for the implementation of public charging infrastructure.
“In Charge of Charging” is a key result of the research project BeMobility 2.0, funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
